AWER LITTLE HOUSE #2 — AN UPDATE!

WOO. I say that like I’m cheering and exhaling, all at once (probably because I am?)! I’m so excited about this post, even though it’s short and sweet — I’m just glad we can start documenting our building process. Ryan and I first met with our architect in September right after we moved to Santa Clara, but she wasn’t going to be free to work on our plans until mid-November, “So!” she said, “Till then, you two go home and do your homework.” We still had a lot of opinions to nail down, and she obviously still needed a lot of time before she could work with us, so Ryan and I went home and did our homework. 🙂 But really. We’ve spent just about every spare minute of our time during the last two months researching, sketching, erasing, questioning, sample-collecting, learning, and dreaming up this little home – AWER little home! And I think we have it nailed.

Above — the sample bin (and a Miss Emmy peeking through). Below — the sketching! And the measuring. Ryan sketched our plan to scale. He’s amazing and I love him.

Our “build binder.” It’s becoming our new BF, just keeping all of our stuff safe — builder and architect info, plan sketches, receipts. It’s filling up already! I designed that little logo one night after working on the exterior of the house for a while. It’s a tiny reflection of what the house will be like and I’m obsessed. The idea to draw it up popped into my head out of the blue, and well, being a logo designer — I had to do it! Can you spot the “A” in Awer little house?? It’s my fave part!

A little closer look. 🙂 One day I’ll print her off in a mini size and hang her on her very own walls! It’ll be great.

Our architect told us today that she will have our plans ready for reviewing either tomorrow or Friday, so HELLO Christmas Eve vibes (Ryan and I really can’t sleep due to the stoke) which is part of why I’m documenting tonight. As soon as we solidify the plans (which could take another month, at the longest), we’ll choose our builder and hopefully break ground in January. And then, wow, will there be stuff to share! I hope to take progress pics all along the way, and I’ll also be sharing the inspo/mood boards I’ve designed for every area of the home. From our exterior, to the mudroom, to the girls bedrooms, to the playroom, I’m excited to share the inspiration we’ve leaned on to design the house, and to just tell the story of how and why this little home will be built the way she will be. 🙂

So stay tuned! Buckle up! This rollercoaster will soon begin… !!!
