We had the sweetest – literally! – little party last Friday with our best San Diego pals. To wish our darling Olivia girl an (early) happy birthday, and to play one more time with our people at our beach before bidding this place and our people adieu, we picked up a few dozen VG’s Donuts (a local, SD classic and one of our favorite bites here), and we hit the sand for the funnest evening. Olivia asked for the party to happen, since she will just barely miss celebrating her big day with her friends here, and I was all on board. Except for this summer due to COVID, it has been our tradition for the last three summers to spend every single Wednesday from morning to evening at the beach with these friends. And more friends not pictured! Our sweet San Diego friends mean the world to us…we’ve grown up with them over these last few years, and man, how I believe that “love is what you go through together” – James Thurber. You can’t help but love those that you walk through life with, both the fun, “Beach Day Wednesdays” and the hefty, heavier days of living in a big city full of busy days. We have been so blessed by our time here with these precious friends. We are so grateful for them all.
On to the party! Olivia turns 8 (yes, eight-years-old!!) in just a couple weeks and I can’t believe it. Friends that have been hanging out with me on my blog since the beginning — can you believe that. Olivia – my baby! – is 8 and on her way to her tweens. I cannot believe it. I’ll write another birthday post for her after we have her big day, but for now, let me just say that I adore this darling girl. She is everything sweet and strong. Mm I am so lucky to be her mother!!

Ooh VG’s! I’m not typically a donut girl, but I’m a donut girl for VG’s. 🙂

Cutest Emmy helping a sister out! Claire stopped and asked for a bite as she was dashing off to the water, and Emmy girl obliged. 🙂

And then she carried on all by herself. Sis didn’t leave that little perch for a good, long while. Unlike her mama, Emmy is a donut girl!

Olivia!!

And Claire!! BFFs forever.

The kids circled up for donuts…

And we sang “Happy Birthday…”

And we all felt so happy.
The kids dashed back out to the water, and they all played together which totally warmed my heart. Usually the kids will break up into groups, and then they switch their groups, and then they’ll congregate all together a little bit, but last Friday they naturally all hung together all evening, and since it was our last time together, it just totally filled my soul.

Chloe baby was toddling around all evening and I didn’t get enough shots of her, but I did snag this one below of my two C babies and I’m obbbbbsessed. I love that Claire was watching and loving her, I love the splash of that water, I love that Chloe couldn’t help but be in the waves. 🙂

Our dear friend, Meghann, brought our VERY favorite San Diego treat toward the end of the party — a one-and-only Batch cookie! Olivia request VG’s Donuts and Batch Cookies for the party, and lucky girl, she got her wish! Meghann is the creator of Batch Cookies, and in just over a month, her shop opens here in Del Mar and I cannot wait to share more then. I’ve been a lucky little girl, too, by being able to help Meghann with Batch since she started working on her business in 2019 — I created the original branding and gosh, yes, I am itching to share more! Soon!

For now, LOOK at the joy…

Priceless!
I can’t help but look at all of these photos without feeling straight JOY, even though they are the last memories we’ll have with our friends at the beach. At least while living here (we will be back to party with our people again)! Moving is bittersweet, but the sweet of all of our time with our people here dominated that night — the old memories behind us, the memories of that moment, and all the moments in between. Life is good!
