HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my darling girl. Emmy!!! Where do I even begin? She is a star, that dolly. At three-years-old, she stands out against everything around her more than ever. She is our bold girl – physical and strong – and if you try to stop her from doing something, you will fail and she will win. “I am the CHAMPYUN!!” she frequently says. Or rather, screams. Emmy is loud as she is bold. She has to be, really. How else does the third girl in a family of our hold her own? 🙂 Emmy is funny and she knows it. Today one of our friends told her that she is a good artist and she replied, “And I’m funny.” She brings big doses of humor into our family, which we so need. Especially right now. Her third birthday last Sunday was on the heels of a weekend that has crashed history’s pages as frantic and frenzied one, but sweet Emmy, she wasn’t phased. Thank heaven for her naiveté, but also, praise heaven for her happy disposition that’s okay to go with the flow. Sister had been asking me to have a big birthday party with all of her best friends for a month now, and yet when her party had to be canceled, she didn’t cry or whine or complain. We had her birthday party as a family and she simply said, “We can have a party at the park later, Mama.” Yes we can, my girl. Yes we will.
I couldn’t help but take about 100 pictures of her on her big day. Sis was being too good to be true! I added the commentary to the photos — couldn’t help myself. Between the captions being her actual, in-the-moment phrases to a couple I came up with myself, one day my grown-up Emmy will get a good laugh out of this one. 🙂 Enjoy a few moments with Emmy here. I mean, Elsa…

What’s that?!

Samantha?

🙂

“Let’s go ride bikes, Mom!”

“Mom you can’t get me” (Oh yes I can, Miss Emmy)!

Cheeeese on the go!

“Okay smile at me, Emmy!” Shoulder-raise and sweetest smolder.

“Mom look at my girls!” Claire and Olivia were across the street.

Cheeeese!

Cheeeeeese!

CHEEEEJBLGMWSSSSEE!!!

“Mom look at my dress…”

“It’s so pretty…”

“Hey dad, Chloe has some spit up.” Dad had walked up to us, holding baby Chloe.

“You got it off!”

“Okay, I’m all done now. How about we go watch Fwozen 2?”

🙂
Love you, Emmy Eve. We adore you. Thank you for giving us the sweetest, funniest three years. Cannot wait for infinitely more!! You’re my girl!

Mom
