WILLKOMMEN HOME!

I think we waited about five years for him to walk down that escalator. Ryan, Olivia, and I were even late to the airport – and yet still on time to greet our brother (phew). The evening was a blur of cheering, a billion hugs, first-time intros for the three babes born in 2012, storytelling, gift giving, and the consumption of Swiss chocolate. We kind of laughed (Nick is hilarious). And we all felt semi-bewildered that he was home, even though everything felt perfectly the same.

Missions do something to a family. The distance they demand between the missionary and everybody else tightens heart strings, making that ultimate reunion overwhelming at least. To say that my family is obsessed with the promise of eternal families will suffice, actually. We are each other’s best friends and it’ll be that way for forever. Hallelujah.

The cherry on top – a pricless movie of the airport scene from my sister, Kimbee. It’s a tearjerker. Danke a million, Kimbee. I love my family!!!

You want to know something crazy? I teared up watching that video. I wanna say it's because of hormones, but i know it's because you have such a beautifully loving family. My only sister and sibling leaves on her mission in March, and I'm gonna be a mess.
