Not sure why, but Valentine's has always had my heart.

HA. Didn't even plan that one!

How punny.

But really, I love celebrating Valentine's Day. Proof here, here, here, and here. And, actually, I think I do know why: Valentine's Day redeems the winter. It pops up right when you're tired of the cold and dreary world, blasting you with energetic love. Even here in sunny San Diego with a non-existent winter, it still saved us from a dearth of celebrations and gave us a feel-good boost. Valentine's is clutch! Always and forever...๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ˜‰

Our festivities this year were extra special, thanks to the latest and greatest small business, Confetti Crate Co. It's a party-in-a-box subscription gig, and I knew it was coming this way for months, actually -- I designed the company's branding! Yay!! I've been really excited to share the project, since the brand was a blast to create, I love the product, and the ladies running it are incredible. Aleisha, one of the founders, is an old friend, and when she reached out about designing their brand and identity, I did 300 cheers -- business branding is a train I've wanted to jump back on since I branded Let's Playground, my first biz. Other than dreaming up the actual mat, creating the identity for my business and seeing it through was my favorite aspect of that venture. Business Branding is just special!

Take a look at all of Confetti's brand elements HERE in my Design Portfolio, and check out their Instagram account HERE and website HERE. You'll be glad you did, becaaaause...

Look at this loot!
Confetti sends you a themed box each month with all the supplies you need to not just throw a regular ol' party, but a party that helps your family forge a new tradition. When they told me that that was their end goal for their business, I was in. Honestly, I have formed very few, solid traditions for my little family, which makes me both sad and embarrassed, because I know how important traditions are! An unforgettable fact from my undergrad education was that traditions have been proven to strengthen a family's culture, and a family's culture gives kids a marked sense of self and direction, especially through times of stress (two great articles on that here and here). That's all I want for my girls, friends: self-assurance and a vision for themselves, especially during hard times. That can happen with the help of traditions!

Like I said up there, Valentine's Day has proven to be our most consistent family tradition over the years, and this year we kicked it up the party two notches via the Crate -- the supplies inside were for a fancy dinner party (the girls LOVED it). And since it all came in a box, I'm putting it all back in that box and saving it for next year. Name cards, garlands, confetti, and all...
Olivia's pictures for each person's table setting! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Although she said someone else had to draw her picture, haha (let me at it, Olivia! Pick me!)

The Menu insert from the box was a hit. It set a serious "restaurant" tone, and I stayed in server mode and the girls stayed in princess mode for the entire dinner. We loved it. PS, "Pink Lime Pie" is our fave Key Lime Pie (pinkified with some food coloring) -- it's the easiest, most deadly desert, whose recipe I'm sharing soooon!
CUTEST helper in the middle of it all. She wanted a pic and she got a pic!
The table sat all ready to go for the entire afternoon, and just before dinner we donned our pink and red dresses, blasted some V-Day tunes, and waited for our man of the Awer (I mean, HOUR! ๐Ÿ˜Œ) to get home from work. Ry walked in and was shocked to see such a get up (surprises win!), and we all enjoyed our fancy schmance V-Day Dinner. Thank you, Confetti Crate Co., for letting me help you with your adventure, and thank you for helping us get a fancier, forever family tradition in the bag. I mean, BOX. ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜˜
