Pic via: our current hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is our fifth hotel in the last couple weeks. We've been getting around this gorgeous NorEast land! I underestimated how hard it would be to jump on here and blog, but I definitely feel like I've blown up my corner of Instagram, and I'm here with a little scripture study post now before heading to church, so, progress! :)
Entry from Thursday, August 17
"Therefore he giveth this promise unto you...all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good, and to my name's glory, saith the Lord."

How/when have I seen this happen in my life?

The first thing that comes to mind -- going through [my friend's]  accidental, tragic passing when we were at Lake Powell. He was 15, I was 14. The experience was a heavy, completely unexpected affliction. But because of it, I had nowhere to turn but up for understanding and consolation, and in doing so, I was gifted with a perspective of God's Plan of Salvation that I would not otherwise have. I have a testimony of God's sublime circle of life that cannot be taken from me, which is something so "for my good." I've also been able to empathize with and understand others when they lose someone they love (especially when the loss was unexpected), and I can't help but point them to God and to His glorious, hopeful plan.

There have been much smaller "afflictions" I've been tossed that have helped me learn, too, that refinement really can come after the fire (I just have to look up and ask that He make it so). Grateful that He is living and working for my salvation.
