In case you're new here, every Sunday, I copy and paste an entry from my scripture journal here in a blog post. I call the series "Sweet Is the Word!" and I threw it together on a whim back HERE. I love the scriptures. Deeply love them. They are a big part of my life and thus deserve a big place here. :)

Pic via: my bed. I was up early a lot this week, and a few mornings were too chilly for my liking to leave the comfort of my covers to study, so I read there as the sun rose. It was lovely.

Also, Miss Claire jumped in to help me with this one. Thank you, sweet Bear. :)
Entry from Saturday, May 7
Mormon 9:31
"But rather, give thanks unto God that he hat made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been."

I love when the good word comes through with parenting advice. In the day that the girls wake up and realize how imperfect I've been as their mother and how flawed I am, I want to respond as humbly as Moroni and say, "Well thanks be to Heavenly Father for allowing you to see and understand my mistakes, and for giving you the agency to be better than I have been."

What an approach to imperfection -- gratitude and humility. Because that will definitely be an uncomfortable day - when my baby's angel eyes are gone and I won't be wonderful in every way. But I can be grateful for what I've done right, whether they'll recognize it or not, and grateful that they can change themselves for the better (because their desire to do things differently - and better - than me is inevitable)! I can be humble and recognize that Christ makes up for what I lack, and in their cases, He will help them to not just learn but to be more wise than I have been.

What a lesson. Feeling grateful.
