Pic via: my bedroom floor. I sat and studied there one morning this week, not wanting to be too far from my (still sleeping) Ry. My side of the room here is really dark (like the shadows in the photo are my side of the room), so I had to hit the floor there to catch some early morning light. :)
**This entry is a little different from the others I've previously shared. My study started out with a portion of a talk about the Holy Ghost by Elder Robert D. Halesan apostle in my church, and a scripture followed. I studied Elder Hales' talk and this talk by Sister Mary Durham in preparation for my talk today in my sacrament meeting -- about the Holy Ghost!

Entry from Friday, May 27
"The Holy Ghost honors the principal of agency. He speaks to our minds and our hearts gently about many matters of consequence."

So don't sweat the small stuff and conversely, don't negate that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. I think of the gentle thoughts and feelings the Spirit has given me even this week (like to drop off flowers to that friend, just to dish her some joy) and they really are so simple on the outside - they can be so easily dismissible (which is why I so often dismiss them)! But here I'm told that the Spirit guides on matters of consequence. Doesn't matter how small a prompting may be. If the Spirit is prompting, it's important.

Makes me think of this:

Alma 37:6-7 "By small and simple things are great things brought to pass...and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls."

Best to go and do when the Spirit speaks, and I'd say especially when the prompting is simple and small (you just never know how big its effect may be)!

  1. Jen, I'm loving the "Sweet is the word!" (love that exclamation point) series! This post is particularly tender to me. I've received more than one present at the door with sweet, kind notes from you, and I can attest the truth and power of "small and simple things...bringeth about the salvation of many souls." Those little (but big to me), kind and inspired acts truly carried me during low points in life. Just to know someone is there and cares! Oh! My heart bursts with gratitude at the thought. Thank you for being on an angel's errand and for being willing + open to those precious promptings. XOXO

    1. Oh Juli...you're so so kind. Thank you for your comment. <3 And please, you have GOT to remember that any outreach on my part was in response to you lifting me. I'd give an arm and a leg to be your neighbor again, angel girl. Love you so much (and for forever)! XO
