First, pic via: the kitchen table while the girls ate breakfast. Again. :) Olivia was playing and eating (clearly) while I read and thought aloud. Claire was in her high-chair to the side doing the same.
Entry from Wednesday, February 16
"Therefore, whoso heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house upon a rock.

"And everyone that heareth these sayings and doeth them not shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand."

I've heard this analogy since I was a toddler (so for years!!!) -- follow the Savior and you'll be built upon a rock, which means you will not be moved when the winds come down and the floods come up. But for the first time today, I noticed what "these sayings" are that the Savior references here...

- Don't be judgmental (v.2)
- Don't be a hypocrite (v. 3-5)
- Keep holy things and experiences holy (v. 6)
- Ask, seek, pray for guidance and answers from God. Trust that He knows how to give the best gifts to us, His children (He is a perfect Father! v. 7-11)
- Follow the Golden Rule (v. 12)
- Be baptized and actively live the faith (v. 13)
- Beware of false prophets. Notice not only men's labors, but the fruit of their work (v. 15-20)
- Doing God's will, not your own, blesses you now and eternally (v. 21

So interesting! Everything there primarily deals with how you interact with Heavenly Father and with others. They deal with relationships. So what you do to others, what you learn from others, how you feel about how God feels about you -- these aspects ground you upon His rock. I've never thought of that before. I usually think of daily scripture study and prayer and service as the keys to being grounded, and I know they are detailed out in other scriptures as doing so. But here He says that how you approach God, your personal faith, and other people also determines whether or not your foundation is one of rock or sand.

So good for me to realize and learn. And now to better go and do.
