HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, MY GIRLS!

Sunday, May 10, 2015

This year's go at Mother's Day has me feeling over-the-moon grateful for my girls. I usually feel drawn to all things "mother" on Mother's Day - who I've become as a woman because of being a mother, what it's like to be a mother, exemplary mothers (my own!) - but in the last 24 hours, I've been pretty absorbed by the fact that these girls are alive and they are mine! Mother's Day is a thing for me because of them.

These two have done so much for me. So much! Yes I change their diapers (or Olivia's wet undies, #pottytraining), but the love, need, and adoration that they have for me is pretty real. And it's %100 unconditional. I'll have to write more about that later because it's quite the fact and it's quite the feat, their unconditional love. I'm learning that it does things to a woman. It makes you calm, compassionate, confident.

So I feel like I owe a "Happy Mother's Day!" to my Olivia and my Claire, those darling angels. I adore them! Wholeheartedly adore them. Olivia is totally 2.75 years old (self-explanatory fact), and Claire is an obsessed-with-mom baby (although that doesn't bother me in the least) -- we have major moments. But hands down, no battle, the best part of my life's last six months has been mothering my two.

To my girls - thanks for making me a mother. Thank you for bringing out the real-deal ME - the deliberate, the creative, the beautiful - the best Jeni there ever was or ever will be. Love you two forever for that.

(PS, the blog's back for good!)
