That sounds like I've run a million of these, but heavens no, just two.

In comparing my two races, this race down Hobble Creek Canyon with Kayla was waaay better than my last one down Provo Canyon with me all by myself.

Kayla (my first college roommate turned best friend for life) and I ran this race on the fly. Two registrations came up on Monday before the race, and since Kayla's training for a full marathon, and I was dying to run a half this year, we greeted the starting line bright and early Saturday morning. Despite not having ran more than 6 miles for me, 10 for Kayla before Saturday, we didn't get blisters, break bones, or have heart attacks. We finished the 13.1 in two hours. We loved everything about it.

Goes to show that if you put your mind to it, your body will do it. I kept thinking to myself, "I'm just running 13 miles" as if 13 miles equaled 5, and honestly, the race was fantastic. It also helped major that I threw competitiveness away, and that my brain also said, "Enjoy this!" because that's just what I did. I enjoyed good running, that beautiful canyon, using my healthy body, and time with a very best friend.
Cheers for a wonderful friend, race and healthy I love all of the above, especially when they're a package deal.

P.S. My loves met us at the finish! That's another reason why I liked this half better than my last. This time I ran to the end to kiss my very own man and darling girl. Bless this sweet life. I'm grateful for it.
