As if her food were a pesky fly, she smacked her dinner plate and the eggs - they flew - in every insane direction. Scattered, crumbly, and annoying, it was a brand new mess all over the just-swept floor.

She was done eating, without eating hardly anything.  I was done trying, after having tried nearly everything. I was a spent, one-woman show...Dad was away at work.

So off we went for an evening walk - an idea that was as awesome as eating dinner ;)
We walked up to the temple grounds because the peace is palpable there. You can count on certain places to bring out the calm in you, and this is one of them for us.

The flowers were glowing and we talked about their colors. We counted her toes and we crawled in the grass. We pointed at clouds and leaves and birds...we forgot about dinner, the floor, and the  mess.

Turned out to be one of those evenings that are warm and calm, despite the storm. One of those evenings that fills up your heart, and you know that even when you're tired and things are disarrayed, life's beautiful and all will be well.

  1. Even though she was in a bad mood, she still looks so stinkin' cute.
